How Oracle Heartbeat works
An independent, read-only monitor. Not affiliated with Robinhood or Chainlink. No wallet, no transactions.
What is checked
Every 5 minutes the monitor reads each of the 35 Robinhood Stock Token price feeds on Robinhood Chain (chain 4663):
latestRoundData()on the Chainlink feed proxy, for the price and the time of the last update.oraclePaused()on the Robinhood Stock Token, which is true while a corporate action freezes the feed.
Feed addresses come from Chainlink's data feed directory and token addresses from Robinhood's token registry. Every read first checks that the RPC endpoint really is chain 4663.
Statuses
| Healthy | Updated within its heartbeat. |
| Late | No update for 24h 15m while the market window is open. The heartbeat is 24h, so the feed has missed it. |
| Stale | No update for 25h while the market window is open. |
| Paused | The Robinhood Stock Token reports oraclePaused() = true, usually during a corporate action. The feed holds its last price. |
| Market closed | Outside US equities 24/5 hours. Idle feeds are expected and never flagged. |
| Unknown | The read failed this cycle. It is retried in 5 minutes and never opens an incident on its own. |
Market hours
These feeds follow Chainlink's US equities 24/5 schedule: Sunday 18:00 to Friday 17:00 ET, closed on US market holidays (NYSE calendar). Age is counted from the moment the window opens, so weekends and holidays never count against a feed.
Incidents
An incident opens after 2 consecutive bad checks and ends when the feed is healthy again or its market closes. A single failed read never opens one. Every incident is listed in the incident log.
Why alarms are slow on purpose
A Chainlink feed only has to publish when the price moves 0.5% or once per 24h heartbeat. A quiet asset such as a treasury ETF can go a whole day without an update and still work perfectly. So a feed is flagged only once it misses its heartbeat: late after 24h 15m, stale after 25h.
Before launch, up to 24 days of on-chain history for all 35 feeds was replayed through these rules. No incident would have opened.
Limits
- A feed that silently freezes is flagged only after its heartbeat is missed, up to about a day later.
- Price deviation against an outside reference is not tracked yet. Feed prices include Robinhood's dividend multiplier, so they differ slightly from the plain share price.
- Historical pause states are not recorded before the monitor started.
